Encaustic art involves using special tools (e.g. iron and/or stylus) to heat coloured wax. The wax is then applied to glossy paper. The technique produces the most fascinating effects, unique to this form of artwork. There is a luminescence to the pictures, and they seem to grow on people the more they look at the images, enabled to appreciate aspects not previously noticed.
